About Us

Huntingdonshire Business Against Crime (HBAC) is run by businesses for businesses and operates in Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots.

The membership adopts a proactive approach to preventing and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.

HBAC members include businesses small, large, national and international, charities, and local groups.

The businesses involved are from the following areas:

• Retail - town centre and edge of town
• Commercial premises
• Licensed premises - pubs and clubs
• Community groups

HBAC Partner members include Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Huntingdonshire Community Safety Partnership at Huntingdonshire District Council, Huntingdon Town Council, Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership, and St Ives Town Initiative

Day to day management of HBAC, and the members first point of contact, is via the HBAC team - consisting of a part time manager and a part time co-ordinator

HBAC - Aims & Objectives

• Collate and manage intelligence information which is shared __with HBAC members
• Promote initiatives to reduce crime, the fear of crime, and __anti-social behaviour
• Co-ordinate information to assist in the apprehension and __prosecution of suspected offenders
• Reduce member’s __losses and thereby contribute to the __economic viability and prosperity of the area.
• Promote a safe and secure environment for staff and __customers
• Work with partner organisations to strengthen links with the __business communities as an integral part of the local __community safety and crime reduction strategy

The HBAC Honorary Officers are the Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer, all of whom represent businesses in the Huntingdonshire towns of Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots.

HBAC comprises a meeting structure of:

• Monthly Board of Management meeting
• Quarterly Steering Committee meeting
• AGM held in June each year

The Board of Management along with the Steering Committee are responsible for overseeing the administration and management of HBAC along with promoting the aims and objectives of the scheme.
